Jim has over 30 years of experience in governmental auditing, training, accounting and management services. Jim’s areas of expertise include state and local governmental auditing, forensic audits, fraud audits, management audits and audits in compliance with the Single Audit Act. He is an expert in the field of governmental and nonprofit accounting.
Jim has been leading MGO’s efforts and commitment to innovation using technology in the audit process. Jim developed MGO’s approach to data analytics through the use of IDEA and is leading the discussion on continuous auditing, cybersecurity and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the financial statement audit process. Prior to joining Macias Gini & O’Connell LLP, Jim was a Senior Partner with Quezada, Godsey & Co. Jim is a frequent speaker in the community, presenting on topics such as: investment accounting and disclosures, Pension and OPEB reporting, and Risk Assessment and Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting and Information Technology.
