Q&A.
Why are you passionate about public accounting?
Public accounting is all about assisting others in meeting their business goals. I’m passionate about serving my clients with energy and enthusiasm. I strive to continuously improve myself and my technical abilities and enjoy mentoring others along the way.
Why do you like working at MGO?
I like working at MGO because its core values are in line with mine and the people are great. MGO’s mission statement and values are a well-articulated vision of where we are heading and what we aspire to be. I’ve developed a close bond with the people of MGO and have a lot of respect for their commitment and passion in a profession that builds itself on reputation and integrity.
Describe a favorite client or client story.
I enjoy the challenge of identifying and resolving complicated issues. Over the years, I have encountered many issues requiring significant research and discussion. Two of these issues were taken all the way to GASB for concurrence. It was through these two projects that I was asked by Ken Schermann of GASB to join their task force for securitization of revenues and receivables, now known as GASB Statement No. 48, Sales and Pledges of Receivables and Future Revenues and Intra-Entity Transfers of Assets and Future Revenues.
What qualities do you look for in job applicants?
I want people who share the same MGO core values (trust, communication, leadership, performance excellence and passion), and strive to meet these values.
Who are you outside the office?
While I'm passionate about my work, I am just as passionate about my family and friends. I strive to be the best husband and father to my wife and children, and to be a reliable friend. When I’m not in the office, I am usually spending time with my family (camping, soccer or just “hanging out”) and/or my friends (softball, poker and BBQ’s).
